Actor Rick Moranis sucker hit while walking into NYC

NEW YORK — Actor Rick Moranis has been sucker-punched by an unknown man while walking Thursday to a sidewalk near New York’s Central Park, a law enforcement officer told the Associated Press.

Surveillance video shows a guy wearing a black” that I (heart) NY” sweatshirt along with a backpack hitting on the 67-year-old”Ghostbusters” celebrity and knocking him into the floor round 7:24 a.m. Thursday.

The attack occurred only a couple blocks from the Central Park West apartment building where Moranis’ character dwelt in the film.

Moranis took himself into the hospital and afterward went into a police station to report the episode, according to the official, who wasn’t authorized to talk publicly about the episode and did so on condition of anonymity.

Moranis’ representative Troy Bailey stated in a written statement Friday: “Rick Moranis was attacked on the Upper West Side yesterday. He’s fine but thankful for everybody’s thoughts and well wishes.”

Police released a surveillance video of the attack is looking for the public’s help to discover the attacker but didn’t state Moranis was the sufferer due to privacy issues. Police describe the episode as a”random unprovoked attack”
