At least Seven killed in knife attack in northeastern China

The assault in the town of Kaiyuan at Liaoning province was completed outside a sauna and bathhouse. The defendant, identified by the press by his surname Yang, was detained while the reason behind the attack remains unknown.

Chinese law limits the sale and ownership of guns, and bulk strikes are usually completed with knives or even homemade explosives.

Perpetrators of similar strikes in the past are described as psychologically ill or bearing grudges from society.

In previous strikes, a school security guard wielding a knife hurt at least 39 people at a kindergarten in the southern region of Guangxi in June this year. The offender was sentenced to death.

In 2018, a guy killed one and wounded 12 in a knife attack in a shopping mall in Beijing.
