The girl had been found unconscious with a head injury close to the railroad tracks in a playground not far from the embassy on Wednesday, according to a police announcement. She died in a hospital later in the afternoon. A U.S. Embassy ID was discovered inside her possessions.
The Embassy confirmed that the girl was a U.S. citizen at a statement and said that they were”heartbroken” to report her passing. Embassy officials were”working with police to ascertain the circumstances of the departure.”
Police said the girl might have been attacked by a dark-haired, 30-to-40-year-old guy wearing black shorts, dark-blue shoes, and a T-shirt.
Artyom Shevchenko, the spokesman for Ukraine’s Interior Ministry, said on Facebook that authorities were investigating the death for murder but in precisely the same time hadn’t ruled a crash.
The girl was wearing sports clothing and cans, ” he explained.
“The passing of such irresponsible pedestrians because of accidents (resulting from ) train isn’t unusual on the railways,” Shevchenko wrote.
