The tour bus had been traveling together with 65 passengers aboard as it crossed the railway track throughout rain in Chachoengsao, 80 km (50 miles) east of Bangkok, where a train smashed into the car or truck.
Prathueng Yookassem, the district chief officer, advised Thailand’s PBS TV that 17 people died and 30 were wounded.
“It had been raining, possibly, the motorist didn’t see the train,” he explained.
All the injured were attracted to 2 hospitals. Police say they’re investigating.
The bus passengers were traveling out of Samut Prakan state into a Buddhist temple at Chachoengsao to get a merit-making ceremony.
