His longtime manager Jim Morey stated in a media release that Davis died in Nashville on Tuesday after heart surgery and has been surrounded by loved one’s members and friends.
Davis had a long and diverse career in music for years as a writer, singer, actor, and TV host and has been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2006.

What a great legacy he left most people with his songs. Mac was one of some kind. I am blessed to have been among the many friends”
Davis worked as a staff songwriter at Los Angeles to get Nancy Sinatra’s publishing firm when in 1968 Presley cut the amazing”A Little Less Conversation,” that Davis had composed with Aretha Franklin in your mind.

Davis obtained a recording deal of his own from 1970, documenting”Hooked on Music,” It’s difficult to be Humble,” and”Texas in my Rearview Mirror,” and receiving crossover success on pop charts. He was writing later in life, obtaining co-writing credits songs by Avicii (“Addicted to You”) and Bruno Mars (“Young Girls.”)
