Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden references Quotation from Philadelphia 76ers coach Doc Rivers in Address

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden quoted Fresh Philadelphia 76ers coach Doc Rivers at a speech Tuesday at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

In calling for national unity, the former vice president declared Jacob Blake, a Black guy who was left paralyzed from the waist down when he had been shot in the back with a white police officer on Aug. 23 at Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Rivers, who had been training the LA Clippers at the NBA bubble once the shooting happened, talked emotionally about the episode and the present state of racial affairs in the nation following a Clips triumph on Aug. 24.

We are the ones getting taken. We have been hung. It is wonderful how we maintain loving this nation, and this nation doesn’t love us ‘

“I consider that. I think of what it takes to get a Black man to appreciate America. That’s a profound love for this nation which has for far too long been known.”

Rivers was introduced as the Sixers’ new trainer on Monday.
