Fort Hood soldier Mejhor Morta found dead Close Texas Army Foundation

A 26-year-old Fort Hood soldier had been found dead near a lake approximately 15 miles in the Texas Army base, army officials said Tuesday.

Pvt. Mejhor Morta was found Friday in the Area of Stillhouse Lake at Killeen, the Austin American-Statesman reported.

The Pensacola, Florida, native’s cause of death was not immediately released.

Officials did not say if foul play is suspected.

“I want to send my heartfelt condolences for his loved ones, friends, and nearest and dearest,” Armstrong explained.

Morta joined the Army in September 2019.

He’s at least the fourth Fort Hood soldier whose body had been discovered close to the post this season.

One of them had been 20-year-old Vanessa Guillen, who went missing on April 22. Her stays were detected earlier this month at a shallow grave about 20 kilometers east of Fort Hood.

She had been murdered and dismembered by fellow soldier Aaron David Robinson, 20, who shot his own life, military and federal researchers have stated.

A regional civilian, Cecily Aguilar, 22, was detained and charged with assisting Robinson to mutilate and eliminate their body.
