Hong Kong Disneyland Will Close Over Amid Coronavirus Spike

Hong Kong Disneyland will shutter again beginning on July 15 because of a spike in cases of coronavirus, following a month ago in performance. It was the next of Disney’s 14 parks globally to restart business since the arrival of COVID-19 on June 18, after Shanghai Disneyland’s May 11 re-opening.

“According to the authorities and health authorities in accord with prevention efforts happening around Hong Kong, Hong Kong Disneyland park will briefly shut from July 15,” a Disney spokesperson confirmed to Variety.

The hotel’s hotels will”stay open with corrected levels of support,” the spokesperson added, stating they have”set up improved health and security measures that reveal the advice of health and government authorities” like social distancing measures and improved sanitation and cleaning.

Shanghai Disneyland stays available — albeit with a limited variety of tickets available daily bookable simply by advanced booking online.

Hong Kong’s closing stands in stark contrast to this re-opening of Walt Disney World in Florida. The Orlando-based place opened up a big part of its parks across the weekend to people despite record-breaking coronavirus situation counts at the country that far outstrips the spike Hong Kong is presently experiencing.

The Florida Department of Health reported 15,299 brand new coronavirus instances Sunday. The country currently has 269,803 instances, together with 4,241 deaths.

By comparison, Hong Kong recorded 52 new instances of coronavirus on Monday, including 41 that were locally sent, based on local health authorities.

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong government on Monday declared a schedule of stricter social distancing measures to fight a dreaded third wave of this virus, restricting group parties once more to only four individuals down from 50, also ordering 12 kinds of companies, such as cinemas, to close for a week. Restaurants must now quit serving after 6 pm, and colleges have been shuttered.

On Monday, the Hong Kong Book Fair place to start Wednesday declared it could be pushed back indefinitely, while at least three additional big expos and events scheduled for July were postponed.
