KINSHASA, Congo — Armed rebels have killed at least 35 people in southern Congo’s Beni area this week, according to officials.
The figures of 29 individuals were discovered after a mass-murdering in Kavuyiri at Virunga National Park, according to a statement by the provincial governor. It wasn’t clear once the attack happened. Another assault Tuesday killed at least six civilians in a different field of Beni, ” it stated.
The provincial authorities condemned the strikes” committed by men with no religion or legislation” and blamed the Allied Democratic Forces, which are active in the area and also have ties to the Islamic State team.
The safety situation in southern Congo, notably Beni, was deteriorating since Congo’s army launched a large-scale performance about a year ago from the armed group.
