BERLIN — Dozens of shows at notable museums in Berlin are sprayed with a greasy liquid, according to German press reports. Authorities said Wednesday that an investigation is continuing, but would not comment further.
The weekly Die Zeit and Deutschlandfunk radio reported Tuesday night that 70 objects in the Museum Island complicated, a UNESCO world heritage site in the center of the German capital that’s among the city’s most important tourist attractions that were sprayed on Oct. 3, the 30th anniversary of German reunification.
They stated that displays in the Pergamon Museum, Alte Nationalgalerie, Neues Museum, and other sites have been changed. It was not clear who could have been accountable.
Berlin authorities would state only that an investigation is continuing, but would not comment on specifics of what took place. Officials in the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, which manages the museums, could not immediately be reached for comment.
