Resources: New York Giants to start QB Colt McCoy over Hurt Daniel Jones

Jones was listed as questionable for its prime-time matchup with all the Cleveland Browns due to hamstring and ankle injuries. The mix limited his freedom and ability to maneuver freely, even more than in the preceding week when he had been coping with the hamstring issue.

McCoy then handled an increased workload, for example, Friday if he took the first snap together with all the starters on offense. That’s normally a great indication of that begins in that week’s game.

McCoy led the Giants into an upset win two weeks ago within the Seattle Seahawks when he started in place of Jones. He gets an opportunity to do it on a national stage against his former staff and also Freddie Kitchens (the former Browns coach) calling plays in place of attacking manager Jason Garrett.

“I was appreciative of my own time with the Browns. I wish we could’ve won more matches,” said McCoy, who had been chosen in the next round by Cleveland from Texas from the 2010 NFL draft. “There are a few fantastic people in that business. The lovers and the folks in Cleveland are wonderful. My wife and I truly enjoyed our time there. We just didn’t win. That is about all I will say about Cleveland. I believe right now our attention and our staff’s attention is we have things to play with for. They are a fantastic football team. They have won a lot of games. We’ve got our hands full with their men upfront. We all know what we will need to do to win this match. We must focus and prepare and get prepared to head out there and execute.”

McCoy traveled 13-of-22 for 105 yards with a touchdown and interception from the Seahawks.

This has not been a standard week to the Giants, along with their quarterback uncertainty. Also, they set top cornerback James Bradberry about the reserve/COVID-19 record after he had been deemed a high profile close touch to a nurse who had tested positive.

Giants head coach Joe Judge stated before Friday’s workout that Jones would get”his share” of first-team snaps. The group believed it a toss-up going into the afternoon whether Jones will be prepared to begin this week, particularly after the ankle was swollen earlier in this week.

It had been trending in McCoy’s leadership by Saturday. The conclusion was made following the group went through a walk-through.

The judge wanted Jones to demonstrate that he not only managed to guard himself but also that his general mobility was still there. He was not able to escape strain or operate from their pocket and endured the foot injury on a hit early in the second half.

Jones stated his freedom was restricted against the Cardinals and the ankle was”tender” before this week. He had been recorded as a limited participant at the clinic Wednesday and Friday.

Jones insisted that he felt”great” on Wednesday despite appearing hobbled through the open part of practices. However, Judge has noticed that he must work almost entirely with his eyes rather than ears when it comes to discovering Jones’ health.

The quarterback was adamant the last couple of weeks about needing to play with and has been preparing once more this week as though he had been going to get started.
