BANGKOK — Thailand reported over 500 brand new coronavirus instances on Saturday, the greatest daily tally at a nation that had mostly brought the pandemic in check.

The 548 new instances, a lot of them connected to a wholesale fish market on the outskirts of Bangkok, come following Thailand saw just a few diseases within the last several months as a result of rigorous boundary and quarantine controls.

Health officials said the new instances are largely migrant workers from Myanmar linked to the epidemic in the Klang Koong Indians marketplace in Samut Sakhon province.

These were tied into some 67-year-old seafood seller who tested positive for the coronavirus before, the director-general of the Department of Medical Sciences, Opas Karnkawinpong, stated in a news conference broadcast to all TV stations on Saturday night.

The very first case in the market was supported on Thursday, followed by 13 more on Friday.

“While there’s a likelihood of discovering more diseases in crowded overseas communities around the fish market, they’re low-risk groups since they’re functioning age and wellness y,” Opas stated.

Samut Sakhon Gov. Veerasak Vichitsangsri said late Saturday that stringent measures, such as a 10 p.m.-5 a.m. curfew and other travel limitations, will likely be taken in the state to fight the outbreak.

Samut Sakhon is 34 km (21 kilometers ) southwest of Bangkok, the capital.

With over 5,000 cases and 60 deaths, Thailand has managed to control the virus. Ahead of the week’s outbreak, there were very few instances of local transmission and existence was largely back to normal.
