Titel Emancipation
This is the only American Civil War memorial outside the US, owing to the involvement of Scottish regiments who helped out on the Union side. It was constructed at the expense of the US government to help mark the sacrifice made by the Scottish soldiers who, after the war, died in poverty. The statue is of Abraham "onepence" Lincoln. I had to stand in a very awkward pose to get this angle of the slave extending his arm in gratitude, with Abe being his imposing self. It's slightly tilted to get his head along the center line. Trust me, it's better this way. View on black, duh.
